Workshops on Discovering Democracy, run by Nigel Brown, are being well attended. At the workshops participants receive the school’s free kit of materials

government and non-government school representatives are welcome

SOSE and non-SOSE teachers are welcome

the focus is on specific strategies for using the materials with grades 4-10
-
the program goes for the whole day with lunch provided

participants link Discovering Democracy materials with the school’s existing civics and citizenship programs, both in SOSE and across the curriculum

participants focus on teaching strategies, resource sharing and curriculum planning
-
more than one staff member per school is recommended
-
an invitation for follow-up support is given.
